4th of July - part 1
I hope that you all had a very nice 4th. Ours was great!! It was the best day of summer, so far. Part of what made it so good was that we got to spend the entire day with Wes. What a treat!! The fun started with the kiddos enjoying the Slip-N-Slide. Lyndal has been asking to use it all summer, but we just now dug it out of the garage. They had a blast!!!!

Fountain Fun
I didn't get as many great pictures as I would have liked because the kiddos wouldn't be still for longer than 1/2 second. They truly had a blast!!!

3rd Grade & Art
Lyndal is in 3rd grade this year. I still can't believe it!! We are continuing on with most of the same curriculum that we used last year. We are using our same art book. It truly is a GREAT book.

Our first artist to pick back up with this year was El Greco. El Greco was known for “stretching” out the people that he painted. Here's an example. Notice how elongated the arms and legs look on this guy.

K4
Alina is in 4 year old kindergarten this year. My goals for her are for her to learn her blends, learn to count even higher (she's at about 40 right now), learn more number recognition, learn some basic addition and subtraction and to have lots of fun. I found this neat Christian curriculum to use with her this year called ABC I Believe. I'm not using all of their items or ideas, but I love that everything is already done up for me. All I have to do is print out their templates and fill in my own ideas. For the letter A everything is revolving around ants. For her letter/sound review she had ants with letters written on them. When she gave me the sound she got to put the ant into the ant hill.

Her first set of blends were written on ants.

For her Bible verse page she glued sand to make the ants and letter A look like they were in an ant hill. We talked about how we can learn from watching ants. We talked about how she could do things without being told, just like the ants. We also learned about the different jobs that ants have (the queen ant, the ants that take care of the baby ants, the ants that protect and the ants that find food).
